The Art - For my art portion, I composed a full brass score. It is written in the key of E flat and is in 6/8 time. It starts with a cymbal crash into a baritone/piano duet. After a piano/cymbal crash transition into a euphonium/tuba duet with a drumkit beat, the song has a change of mood from a more minor, more powerful ballad-like feel to a more jazzy, upbeat feel with a flugelhorn solo and a piano backup. The section is given a jazzy feel by the irregular tuplet rhythms and dotted eighth note piano backup. After the solo ends with a bend, it goes into a piano solo and finishes with a tuba feature. The song then finishes going back to the same main phrase as the euphonium part from earlier, but with all of the instruments. This gives it a powerful, resolved feeling. It then goes into a synth part, where all of the instruments slowly join into a chord that resolves with a percussion hit, and that's the end of the piece. To the side, I have both the audio and the PDF of the sheet music.
History/English - For my history/english portion, I did a poem. The poem was from the perspective of a WWII soldier about to go into battle. It starts with an ABAB rhyme scheme, then goes into an ABAC, then into an AABB rhyme scheme. It was a generally terrible poem, and I am never writing poetry again. I regret writing this poem immensely. It's on the side if you want to suffer through it. |
