I wanted to step out of my comfort zone with this project. Mr. Grandi showed my past projects and we found one I liked. It was a silicone baby, Physical abuse is the most common form of child abuse. I wanted to make a realistic hand and create bruises and cuts.
This hand was made with a material that made it hard. I used a makeup kit and sponges to create the bruises.
The material I used in this photo was soft and squishy. I used a dark color, but it turned slightly purple.
History
I created a psychiatric report of an abused girl who is going through therapy. She has experienced sexual abuse and the therapist reports her process in the report.
English
I made a few letters that show the progression of a girl's change from abuse. The letters are set for her future self. I also created notes for the books I was reading for reference. The books helped me make the letters realistic.

Dear Willow,
It’s been awhile, I guess. During the time between the last letter, I got placed in the Riker’s home. I was really nervous and scared because I had only met the family a few times. Though, despite my feelings at first, they are really nice. Mom and Dad care about me a lot. I never call Dad daddy. It reminds me of what happened. Anyways, they worry a lot too. I have a younger sister, her name is Ashlynn. We paint each other’s nails all of the time. Once a week, Miss China calls me and asks how I’m doing. I tell her I’m doing well. I kind of miss being with her, but she’s busy with other kids, so I understand. I hope when I finish school I’ll go to college and help kids like Miss China does.

Willow
The Glass Castle By: Jeannette Walls A Child Called "It" By: Dave Pelzer
- Child Neglect - All the kids were treated the same. - Parents couldn’t keep a steady job. - The parents cared for their children, in their own ways.
- Physical and Emotional Abuse - One child was treated horribly. - The father was the breadwinner for the family. - The mother hated the child, while the father had sympathy.
- Both books, the children went hungry for a matter of days. - The children would steal other kids lunch at school. - The father in “The Glass Castle” had anger problems just like the mother in “A Child Called ‘It’.” - Both parents in charge got drunk most of the time. - The father in “A Child Called ‘It’’ stayed back and watched the abuse happen. Just like the mother in “The Glass Castle.”
