I made empandillas with my dad to embrace my culture and ethnicity. I wanted to do this because people don't understand that being Puerto Rican is an ethnicity and not a race. while doing this project I have found out that I'm not the only person that is Puerto Rican who has white colored skin, theres this young lady that went to college. The professors and fellow Puerto Ricans didn't believe that she was 100% what she said she was. I'm so happy I chose this topic because it was very informative. I made a pamphlet for history, I made it to ave the pros and cons on the far end of the pamphlet for the foods. I chose 3 Puerto Rican favorites called Rice and Beans, Chicharron, and Coquito. I chose important ingredients and looked up the origin of the ingredient and found the health pros and cons. I chose to make empanadillas for my art portion, I made them with my dad and it was very fun. I can definitely say this project brought me and my dad come closer. the food turned out really good, they didn't come out with as much meat as it usually do but there will definitely be a next time.
