For my english portion I wrote an essay paper answering the question of what dance is next. I wrote about how the internet plays in with dance crazes nowadays and how dance crazes like the "Twist" and "Moonwalk" started. Then I predicted what the next dance craze movements and what old dance will come back with a unique twist. It was important to add about why dance crazes started as well, like if they started from oppression or rebellion. Many old dance crazes have a reason for becoming popular.
History component
My history component is everything I researched for my essay, for my dance videos, and music. I found an interesting fact that in Britain they're bringing back the waltz and are paring it with techno music.. The search engine I used was Safari and youtube. I looked up old dance moves on youtube and then down loaded the clips. The same thing happened with the song clips. I listened to the music and imagined the dance clips in my mind to match them together. I believe it was very successful and accurate.
Art Component
For my art portion I performed the dances with Alyssa Crane. She helped teach me the dance and was my partner. I pieced together the clips and music, so we had a guide line to watch. We ended up looking at other videos to help learn the "Swing Dance" and the "Jitterbug". Having Alyssa teach me was really helpful because I'm not an actual dancer like her. The outfit that I wore had a mixture of all the time, so I didn't have to waste time by changing each time we did a new decade. After we taped all the dances, I pieced them together with the music which was a very frustrating process that took a lotto patience and time. The final product is pretty much in time with the songs and the dance look good.
