It's very interesting how one of my soft skills was time management and yet here I am making this post. It was a learning experience, but throughout this project I really found out how hard it is to create this organization and everything I wanted.
Lately, I have been freaking out over this painting. It consumed a lot of my time, and nothing else really mattered. Then if you add in work and sick days, this project, if I am being completely honest, was definitely harder for me as an individual.
I did carve out time though. To be honest, with my crazy schedule, I am happy with what I achieved. This project has made me more organized as a person. I have a whiteboard in my room now, where I write what I wish to achieve on a certain day. It really helped, and I felt some sort of satisfaction while I crossed some of the things off the list.
To be honest, I think I did the best of my abilities. I did extensive research (which I will be posting as one post soon) and I created a painting I am slowly starting to love. I have really been trying the best of my ability to manage my time appropriately.
On the right, I have a bunch of photos of schedules I have had throughout the course of this project. I also describe about how long some of the activities might take me. Perhaps, after seeing this, you can get the general grasp of what I do on a day to day basis.
Disclaimer: These photos are not taken in the best quality due to being taken on an iPhone 3. Also, I need a new white board marker.
I think that, in the end, I would probably give myself a 9 or a 10 for time management. This has not only affected my life at school, but at home as well. I know I did not get to actually reach out to the organizations, but I know that I will be doing so well after this project is done and my organization is completely solid.
I have always believed that we learn the best through failed attempts. I can tell you straight forward that I did not get everything done on my rubric and tomorrow I will have to edit it. However, I can also tell you that because of that, I will be managing my time more closely and evaluate how my time is spent more often.
On this day, I had my brother's birthday, my friend's birthday, several assessments, and work. Work on these are labeled as "filming." Filming in itself can take several hours (I believe the shortest time it ever took us was 4 hours).
If I am being honest, I babysit daily. However, this time I had to take care of 4 out of the 6 nieces and nephews I have over night. Needless to say, children are really time consuming.
Math homework for me, generally takes about 2 hours to do. that's only on a lucky day. I process things slower than most in that subject, therefore spend a lot of my time on it. That, mixed with work, I barely got any other things on my list done.
As you can see, work can sometimes overlap onto other days. This makes it even more difficult on me, seeing as how long the process is, and how many things I had to put in the back burner.
Again, work is tiresome. I definitely don't have the average teen job. I live with my boss! Keeping this board up really has helped me realize just about how many things I have to do.
